Development by online ?

Bill Gates and the Guardian are hooking up to see what a bit of online media can do for development. The site is here. Looks mostly like standard guardian content and I wonder how the Gates Foundation mission sits with this ? Still, interesting to note that a media online proposition on development can attract this kind of partner.

Next Steps

So we have got some films in, launched our African Digital Diary idea in Lusaka, got lots of enthusiastic responses and proposals to share content and work together…. what do we do next ?

ADD is potentially a media channel, a collaboration zone, a conact network, and an educational support service… so many things.

Africa today increasingly means investment and excitement and expansion -for the first time in several generations – and maybe we go with that ?

It also means contact, conversation, care – maybe we go with that ?

A thinking phase.

Podcasts and YouTube

We have a youTube channel for the films launched at Lusaka last week.

The Great Auction Begins – support African Digital Diaries Fighting Fund

The Great Fighting Fund Auction is Open

As of 30 April, you can bid for the following items on ebay to support our fighting fund to bring participants to Lusaka for e-learning Africa to participate in our session African Digital Diaries. Thanks to our supporters and friends for their generousity in allowing us to offer these treats for the benefit of African learning !

Here are the items you can bid for so far:

Joe Calzaghe's jacket and signed picture

The orginatl jacket worn by Britain’s famous boxer Joe Calzaghe is for sale to raise funds for African Digital Diaries.

We are bringing boxing fans an amazing opportunity to buy a unique memento of Britain’s greatest boxer, Joe Calzaghe. The leather jacket was worn by Joe for an exclusive portrait by top photographer Terry Morris. The previously unpublished photograph was taken as part of Terry Morris’ Cool Cymru collection, as seen on TV.

Bidders are being offered the jacket, an exclusive signed photographer’s print of the portrait, a letter from photographer Terry Morris authenticating the jacket, and a DVD of the ITV series featuring the original photo shoot.

The jacket is a US Navy leather pea coat, made by Schott of New York. Size: Large.

This would be a great piece of boxing history for a club, a games room, a sports bar, a gym or a personal collector. It is a one-off not to be repeated sale with full provenance provided.

Thanks to well-wisher colleague in Tinopolis, the company in Llanelli, Wales where the African Digital Diaries team work.
